Author Visit & Workshop

Kate Andrews High School won 2nd place in the WriQ Word Challenge contest last November, beating schools from across the globe, writing an impressive 171 121 words using WriQ during the course of the challenge! As a reward to teachers and students, TextHelp (the company that owns WriQ) arranged a writing workshop with author Caryn Lix. Caryn wrote the Sanctuary series, which was exciting as our KA book club had featured her books as ones to read even before discovering that she was our guest writer!

The workshop took place on October 21st at Kate Andrews library. Twenty-six participants signed up, and they worked together on their "Postcard Stories," where Caryn challenged students to be creative and concise in their writing. Students voted on their favourite stories, and Caryn provided prizes.
